Parler website
A searchable snapshot of the Parler social network before it was deplatformed by its technology providers after the Capitol riots.
Goal: Build a large open dataset for studying alt-right discourse, disinformation, and the real-world effects of social networking, and provide an interface for the general public to independently examine its content.
- Server and bandwidth costs are approximately $1,000 - $2,500 / month depending on traffic.
This includes multiple large-memory instances on Amazon EC2, bandwidth/storage costs for images and videos, and reserved read capacity for DynamoDB.
PPP explorer website
A searchable viewer for the Payroll Protection Program.
Goal: Create visualizations for PPP loans that allow anyone to see how benefits were distributed.
- Server and bandwidth costs are approximately $250 / month.
This includes full indexing of all PPP loans, and bandwidth/storage costs for data used in visualizations.
